St. Sabina Catholic Church – Mission Statement

We the people of St. Sabina parish do hereby unite to form a Parish Pastoral Council to operate according to the spirit of the Council of Vatican II to further the mission of Christ among us.

We seek to be a faith-filled, caring community of Christian pilgrims journeying as followers of the Eucharistic Lord by reaching out to serve others.

We recognize that we are an undivided and integral part of the “one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church” and therefore affirm our communion with the universal Roman Catholic Church and the Vicar of Christ, our Holy Father, his brother Bishop and our shepherd, the Archbishop of Detroit, and his ordained representatives including our Pastor.

We recognize that we are all people of God through Baptism and we are all called to participate in Christ’s mission, in the communion and mission of the Church. We are called to promote a deeper awareness among us of the gift and responsibility we all share to accept the Gospel in faith, and proclaim it in word and action.

We recognize the various vocations within the Church and resolve to collaborate the charisms and responsibilities of our Pastor and the people of St. Sabina Parish in the formation of parish policy, in order to bring to life an organic and dynamic symphony of God’s people in harmony with God’s plan for salvation.

We resolve to coordinate all organizations and group activities within the parish in a common goal and commitment. We resolve to initiate programs of spiritual, social, civic, and educational benefit to the parish. We resolve to provide opportunities for frequent and meaningful dialogue among priest, religious, and laity in the parish. We resolve to help establish annual parish objectives. We resolve to advise in the disbursement of parish funds with fiscal responsibility and Christian charity. We resolve to hold regular meetings in accordance with proper procedures and agendas; minutes to be published.

As a Roman Catholic Parish of loving, caring and welcoming people, we endeavor to know and share His Good News and serve His people. May God bless our efforts with peace and joy.
